Asni the Harper
Asni the Harper performs and improvises on medieval, renaissance and baroque harps. Her performing career has taken her all across Europe and the US, New Zealand and Australia.
Asni holds a M.A. cum laude in music theory and history from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. Her research into the history of her instrument, and into the practise of continuo playing and improvisation, has been published in several scholarly journals. She is keen to share her profound knowledge of European music theory and history, as well as her experiences as a music professional with an international background.
Asni the Harper has held numerous workshops and master classes in harp, early music performance, continuo playing, and improvisation, including the Edinburgh International Harp Festival (UK), Amherst Early Music (USA), the Australian National Harp Weekend, and most university music departments in New Zealand.
Asni has given public lectures at Victoria University Wellington (Monday Music Forum), University of Auckland, and Kungl. Musikhögskolan Stockholm, and is frequently invited to share her experience as a professional musician with younger aspiring artists.
